DIY Attic Small Half Bathroom Renovation 6. Brushed gold Hardware Ideas

The color theme I planned for the attic bathroom was white and gold(or brushed brass).

Since I got the wall, cabinet, backsplash white family color, I wanted the hardware or fixtures in the bathroom to be gold or brass.

So, I purchased a gold finish light fixture, vanity mirror, faucet, towel bar, cabinet door knobs, legs, and toilet paper holder from Amazon. (There are links at the end of this post when you click the youtube video)

The one thing that bothers me a lot is the chrome toilet lever.

I was thinking about buying a gold lever, but it felt like too much...

Anyway, gold finish hardware matches almost any paint color. Either the soft warm-tone white of the wall or the cool tone white vanity goes well with them.

The faucet is one of the Kraus Ramus lines. It's brushed gold, but a little darker than the others. I like the slim shaped body, handle, and the spout.

I've cleaned it with all-purpose cleaning spray several times, but the coating hasn't peeled off yet.

The knobs for the vanity and extra storage cabinet is mixed with brushed brass and clear crystal glass.

Two mixed material knobs look less boring than regular brass finish ones and I think they are cuter!

Since the vanity is floating, it didn't need any legs. But I couldn't mount the other cabinet, so it had to be free-standing.

I had to return some other legs before I found the ones in the picture because the gold color was really ugly and cheap looking. Brushed gold or brass finish hardware are kind of hard to match all together, because they are quite different by the manufacturer.

For the towel bar, I originally wanted to have a ring towel holder and have it to the left of the mirror. But the placement there was annoying and in the way because the vanity is really small and right next to the wall.

So I had to change the location to the right side of the mirror. But with a ring towel holder, the towel would hang too low and touch the toilet tank. Unfortunately, I coulnd't have a ring holder, so I got a regular towel bar and that solved the problem.

The location of the toilet paper holder was a big issue too. I saw a lot of people have it on the side of the cabinet in a small bathroom like mine. But in my bathroom, the vanity and toilet are too close to put the toilet paper holder. I also considered having a free-standing toilet paper holder, but I didn't want it in the way of the storage cabinet. So, I researched a lot and came up with an idea of installing the toilet paper holder somewhere in the storage cabinet. In that case, the toilet paper usually would be mounted to the side of the cabinet or on the door. But I didn't want to do anything to the beautiful doors and it would be too far or uncomfortable to use if it was on the side of the cabinet. I wanted it to be exactly in the middle of the cabinet. I ended up having the toilet paper holder mounted upside down like the picture above and that was the perfect idea! I was so happy how it came out.

Even though the bathroom is small, I picked a pretty big mirror. Since the bathroom wouldn't have a light fixture right above the mirror, I didn't have to get a small one. As a result, I think the vanity side looks taller than it is and I can see myself more in the mirror.

Like the cabinet legs, I had to return a mirror before the one I have now because of the color again. The first one was really ugly and cheap looking. Luckily the second one matched well with other hardware in the bathroom.

The bathroom still needs more stuff, but a towel, toilet paper, and hand soap is enough for now. So it still looks very empty. Since the second floor where the bathroom is located is not fully ready yet, I don't really use the bathroom. Once everything is ready, I will put more stuff and post about it.

DIY Attic Small Half Bathroom Renovation 2. Ceiling Light Installation

After setting up the bathroom with the new stuff, I wanted to install the ceiling light first. Originally the bathroom had a wall mounted light fixture and vent fan on the ceiling. I removed both of them and decided to have just one ceiling light. I though
