화장실 셀프 리모델링 8 DIY Bathroom Hardware Installation (Bathroom Hardware Ideas)

기본적인 공사는 끝이나고 이제 조명등과 하드웨어들을 설치하는 작업을 했다.

우리집 화장실의 조명들은 니켈 소재였다. 사실 싹 다 바꾸고 싶었으나 돈을 아끼고자 최대한 이용을 해보고자 했다.

 

I finished painting and tiling the walls in the bathroom, and it was finally time to install all the hardware.

First, I decided to keep the original light fixtures to save some money. 

 

그래서 치워두었던 조명등도 싹 다 닦아서 다시 설치를 했다.

 

We had two nickel finished light fixtures. (And there is one in the shower which I replaced from a white trim recessed light with a nickel one so everything could match)

 

이것도 기존에 있던 타올 걸이인데, 별로 마음에 안 들었지만 조명등과 같은 니켈 소재라 다시 사용하기로 했다.

 

This hook was in the bathroom originally. I didn't really like it but decided to keep it because it was nickel.

 

이거는 이번에 새로 구입한 메디슨 캐비넷이다.

원래 메디슨 캐비넷은 프레임이 없는 그냥 거울 문이었는데, 안에 녹이 슬기도 해서 그냥 바꾸기로 했던 것..

니켈 소재로 된 프레임을 찾고 싶었으나 이미 나있던 구멍 크기와 너무 맞지 않아서 구매할 수가 없었다.

검은색 프레임의 메디슨 캐비넷은 꽤 종류가 많이 있었다. 어차피 메디슨 캐비넷 아래에 위치하는 화장실 캐비넷의 문고리와 다리도 검은색이니 같이 맞춰도 괜찮을 것 같아 구입했다.

 

This is the new medicine cabinet.

The original one had a framless mirror and it rusted inside, so I wanted to buy a new one.

I was looking for a nickel framed one, but it was hard to find one that fit into the opening size we already had.

I found a black one that was shorter than the opening, but I could adjust it.

Even though it wasn't nickel finish, it would look fine since the vanity right under the medicine cabinet had black door knobs and legs.

So I purchased it.

설치는 뭐 양 옆에 나있는 구멍으로 나사만 박으면 돼서 어려울 게 없었다.

 

The installation was easy. You just screw into the exsting holes.

 

아주 마음에 든다. 

이렇게 싱크대 쪽은 니켈, 크롬, 검은색이 다 섞인 상황이 되었다. 이전에는 메탈 소재를 무조건 통일해야 괜찮다고 생각했었는데 이렇게 섞는 것도 괜찮은 것 같다. 

 

I really like everything here.

The sink side has nickel, chrome, and black finish hardware. I thought before that the hardware finish had to be the same in one space, but now I know mixing them is totally fine too.

 

그 다음은, 싱크대의 반대쪽에 휴지통, 휴지걸이, 타올바, 선반 이렇게 설치를 해야했다.

역시나 기존의 조명등은 니켈이고, 샤워 프레임도 니켈이다.

싱크대 쪽에 검은색 포인트가 들어갔으니 여기도 검은색으로 고려를 해보려고 아마존에서 몇개 구입해봤었다.

근데 검은색 뭔가 모르게 부자연스럽고 검은색이 너무 튀어보였다.

그래서 다시 다 환불하고, 니켈 제품들로 찾아봤다.

 

그러다 IKEA에서 내가 원하는 모든 구성품들을 같은 세트로 파는 걸 발견했다. 게다가 소재도 니켈이었다.

 

Next, I had to install a trash can, toilet paper holder, towel bar, and shelf for the other side.

The light fixture finish is nickel, and the shower frame is also nickel as you can see a little from the picture above.

SInce I alreay mixed black finish with nickel for the sink side, I considered having some black hardware for the other side too. So I purchased some hardware from Amazon and placed them to look. 

However the colors clashed too much and looked awkward.

I ended up returning all of them and started to look for nickel ones again.

 

After a lot of searching, I found a set which had everything that I needed from IKEA, and they were all nickel.

아주 완벽했다.

모두 하나씩 구입했다. 선반은 한개를 설치할지 두개를 설치할지 고민했으나 나중에 또 필요하면 구입하기로 했다. 현재는 미니멀리스트 테마로 가는 것이 내 목표라 뭐든지 욕심내지 않기로 했다. 

 

It was perfect for me.

So I purchased one of everything. I was going to get 2 for the shelf, but since the theme I set for this house is "minimalist", I decided to go for one for now.

역시나 설치가 그렇게 어렵진 않았는데, 나사못이 포함되어있지 않으니 따로 구입해야한다. 

나같은 경우, 한쪽은 스터드에 고정했고, 다른 한쪽으로 앵커를 이용해서 고정시켰다.

 

This installation also wasn't that bad, but no mounting screws were included, which means you have to buy the right ones for your walls.

I could screw into the stud for one side, but had to use anchors for the other side. 

 

원래 휴지걸이는 생리대를 담을 수 있게 수납 공간이 있는 걸 사고 싶었으나 원하는 걸 찾지 못했다. 

휴지통은 벽에 걸 수도 있다.

나도 청소할 때 계속 들었다 놨다하는게 싫어서 벽에 걸까 싶었지만, 원하는 위치에 스터드가 없어서 하지 못했다.

For the toilet paper holder, I orginally wanted to have one with a drawer so that I could put some personal hygiene products inside. But it was really hard to find what I wanted, so I just had to go for a regular one. 

The trash can can be mounted to the wall if you want. I wanted to mount it so I wouldn't have to lift it everytime I clean the floor, but there was no stud where I wanted to mount it. 

 

휴지통이 위쪽 뚜껑을 눌러서 여는 거라, 스터드에 박지 않고 앵커를 사용하면 나중에 느슨해질 것이 걱정이 됐다.

 

Because you have to push the lid to open it, I was worried that the mounting connection would loosen eventually if you use an anchor.

 

니켈로 하길 잘 한 것 같다. 

 

I'm really glad I went for nickel finish for everything here.

 

이제 데코레이션만 좀 하면 되는데, 시간이 없다......

그나마 트레이더 조에서 캔들을 사다놨다.

타일 바닥이 너무 차가워서 매트도 깔아야하는데 마음에 드는 걸 찾기가 어렵다.

일단 모든 공간마다 공사가 끝나면 식물을 두기로 해서, 식물도 구입할 예정이다. 

어쨌든 최대한 미니멀하게 꾸미고 싶은데 나중에 완성되면 포스팅하겠다.

 

Now, I just need to decorate the bathroom, but it will take time to finish since I'm so busy with other renovations.

At least I got a candle from Trader Joe's.

But I need a mat as soon as possible because the tile floor is too cold to stand on with bare feet.
