식기세척기를 인생에서 처음 구입해봤다. I just purchased a dishwasher for the first time. 미국오니 대부분 식기세척기를 사용하긴 하던데, 나는 그냥 손으로 설거지 하는게 솔직히 더 익숙했다. 그래서

처음 구입했던 보쉬 식기세척기 때문에 water inlet에 트라우마가 생겼다. (자세한 내용은 위 링크를 클릭해서 확인 할 수 있다) 그래서 인터넷으로 식기세척기를 알아보는 것보다 직접 매장에 가서 옆에 달린 water inlet을 보고 사고 싶었다.
I was kind of traumatized by the water inlet because of our first dishwasher. (Check out the story about the dishwasher from the link above) So, I wanted to check the water inlet of every dishwasher physically at a store instead of purchasing one online again.
남편이랑 베스트 바이에 가서 식기세척기를 죄다 꺼내어서 옆을 확인했다.
근데 진열된 식기세척기들 중 하나도 구멍이 오픈되어있는 건 없었다.
심지어 아센타가 아닌 다른 보쉬 제품들도 모두 커버가 되어있었다.
아센타만 그런거였나..??
My husband and I went to Best Buy, took out every dishwasher, and checked the sides.
Surprisinly, nothing had a water inlet with an open hole.
Even the other Bosch models, other than Ascenta, had all covered water inlets.
I guess it was only Ascenta that had the exposed water inlet....?
어쨌든, 보쉬가 그렇게 좋다고 소문나도 다시 보쉬를 사기에 조금 무서웠다. 게다가 100 시리즈보다 높은 것들은 가격이 $1,000 가까이었다. 우리는 식기세척기에 그렇게 높은 예산을 두고 있지 않았기 때문에 많이 고민이 되었다.
Anyway, I was scared to buy another Bosch at that point even though many people say Bosch is a good brand for dishwashers. Additionally, the higher series were almost $1,000. We didn't set our dishwasher budget for that price.
그렇게 매장 안을 더 둘러보다가 메이테그 식기세척기를 발견했는데, 스테인리스 텁에다가 rack이 두개였다. 요즘 식기세척기들은 3rd rack이라고 해서 젤 윗칸에 rack이 하나 더 있는데, 나는 윗칸을 넓게 쓰고 싶은 마음에 일부러 3rd rack이 없는 식기세척기를 찾고 있었다.
We kept looking for a dishwasher at the store and found one from Maytag. It had a stainless tub and 2 racks which was exactly what I wanted. Nowadays a lot of dishwashers have 3rd racks which is on the very top of the dishwasher, but I didn't like that feature because I wanted to have more space inside.
가격도 할인해서 $600 정도여서 부담스럽지 않았다.
너무 오래 고민하는 것도 머리 아파서 그냥 네가지 박자(가격, rack 2개, 스테인리스 텁, 구멍이 안보이는 water inlet)가 맞으니 구입하기로 결정했다.
The price was on sale for around $600.
So I simply decided to get that one because the price was affordable, it had 2 racks and a stainless tub, and most importantly the water inlet was covered.
그렇게 우리 집으로 다시 새로운 식기세척기가 배달되어왔다.
After a few days, the dishwasher was delivered.
홈디포에서 반품 예정이었던 보쉬 식기세척기를 가지러 가기도 전에 배달되어 온 메이택 식기세척기... ㅎㅎ
It arrived even before Home Depot came to pick up the Bosch dishwasher that we wanted to return.
어쩌다보니 이틀동안 집안에 식기세척기 두개를 가지고 있게 되었었다.
So for a little while we had to have 2 different dishwashers at the same time.
마찬가지로 배달만 시키고 설치는 우리가 했다.
Like the Bosch dishwasher, we decided to install the Maytag one by ourselves.

설치 후에는 테스트 작동도 해보았다.
다행히도 water inlet에서 물이 새지 않았다...ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
We also ran a test cycle after installing.
Thankfully the water inlet wasn't leaking at all.
좋다 싶어서 이사와서 한번도 사용하지 못해서 먼지 앉은 수저들, 식기들 다 넣고 돌렸다.
After we found out our dishwasher worked well, we loaded all our silverware and ran it again.
그렇게 우리집에 정착하게 된 식기세척기는 메이택이다.
작동도 잘되고, 식기들도 잘 씻기는 것 같다.
근데 물 새는 것에 대한 공포증이 생겼는지 계속 식기세척기 아래, 싱크대 아래 캐비넷을 열어 물이 샜는지 수십번도 확인하게된다...;;
The dishwasher we ended up settling on was the Maytag.
It works as well as we were expecting.
But, because of our previous experience, I still keep checking underneath for leaks just in case.
3rd rack이 없는 널찍한 내부 아주 마음에 든다.
Without a 3rd rack it's very spacious inside.
다만, 젓가락을 놓을 수 있는 칸이 없는게 한가지 아쉽다면 아쉽다. 어떤 식기세척기들은 젓가락 홀더도 있는 것 같던데 우리껀 없네. 그래서 저렇게 윗칸에 올려놓고 씻는다.. ㅎㅎㅎ
젓가락이 빠지지 않을만큼 구멍이 작은 홀더 사서 쓰면 된다고 하던데 귀찮다.. 돈도 아깝고.. ;; 나중에 젓가락 많이 쓰게 되면 생각해볼란다.
My only complaint is there is no holder for chopsticks. I saw some products have built in chopstick holders inside but unfortunately ours doesn't have that. So I just put the chopsticks on the top of the wine holder.
I could buy a holder that has smaller holes on the bottom than the tips of the chopsticks, but it's kind of wasting to buy that now. I might consider to buy one if we ever use a lot of chopsticks though.
