식기세척기를 인생에서 처음 구입해봤다.
I just purchased a dishwasher for the first time.
미국오니 대부분 식기세척기를 사용하긴 하던데, 나는 그냥 손으로 설거지 하는게 솔직히 더 익숙했다. 그래서 식기세척기 안 사려고 하다가, 남편이 본인은 꼭 있어야한다고 해서;; ㅎㅎㅎ 캐비넷 제작할 때 식기세척기 자리도 만들어줬다.
I'm used to doing the dishes by hand, but it looks like most people in America use dishwashers. Even though I didn't really want to buy one, my husband wanted it so bad. So I made space for a dishwasher during our kitchen cabinet construction.
어쨌든, 어느 브랜드를 살까 굉장히 고민을 많이 했는데, bosch 제품들이 평이 엄청 좋길래 저렴히 홈디포에서 저렴이 bosch를 발견했다. bosch 100 series인 아센타를 샀는데, 모델명은 SHE3AR75UC였다.
When our kitchen was finally ready for a dishwasher, I searched a lot for what brand I should buy. A lot of people said Bosch is the best among so many brands. So I bought a cheap Bosch 100 series Ascenta (SHE3AR75UC).
설치는 직접해도 될 것 같아서 일부러 설치기사를 고용하지 않고 배달만 신청했다. 물론 $300 가까이 하는 설치비용을 아끼고 싶은 마음도 있었다.
I decided to try installing by myself, so we could save some money. The installation fee was almost $300.
워낙에 유투브에 설치방법이 잘 나와있어서 꽤 어렵지 않게 진행할 수 있었다.
게다가 bosch는 전기선도 미리 연결되어와서 usb 선을 연결하듯이 꽂기만 하면 파워코드 완성이었다.
It wasn't horribly difficult to install because you can find so many dishwasher install videos on Youtube.
Additionally, the dishwasher came with the power cord wiring done, so you can just push the connection in like USB and the power cord is ready to plug into the outlet.
그렇게 다 연결하고나서 중요한 테스트 작동을 해보았다.
근데 수도관이랑 배수관에서 물이 샐 수도 있을 거라 생각을 하고 있었는데 예상치도 못한 곳에서 물이 튀어나왔다.
After the installation was finished, I ran a test cycle.
If there was going to be any leakage, I thought it would be from the water line or drain hose. But water leaked from a place I was not expecting.
바로 저기서....
찾아보니 이게 식기세척기 왼쪽에 붙어있는데 water inlet이라는 건데, 식기세척기가 처음 작동할 때 물이 채워지면서 저 water inlet을 지나간다. 근데 저 사각형 구멍에서 물이 팍!하고 튀어나오더라는 것....
왜 저기가 덮어져있지도 않고 저렇게 열려있는지 이해가 가지 않았지만 어떤 사람은 공기가 통하는 길이라고도 했다.
It was right from there...
According to my research, that clear plastic part is called the water inlet. When the dishwasher starts, water fills through this inlet, but for us water splashed out of the square hole.
I didn't understand why the hole wasn't covered but someone said it was for the air vent.
근데 저렇게 열려있을 거면 물이 튀지 않게 작동되어야 정상 아닌가?
뭔가 이상해서 계속 테스트를 해봤는데 계속 같은 곳에서 물이 튀어나왔다. 그냥 무시하기에는 조금도 아니고 꽤 많이 나왔다.
But if that hole should be open like that, shouldn't it be working without water leaking out?
I tested it a couple more times and water kept coming out from the same hole - and not just a little.

영상에서도 보듯이, 내가 직접 연결한 수도라인과 배수라인에서는 물이 새지 않는데, 계속 저기서만 물이 나오니까 환장할 노릇이었다.
도대체 뭐가 문제인가 몰라서 계속 찾아보니 집 자체의 물수압이 높아서 그럴 수도 있단다.
아니 이놈의 식기 세척기 때문에 물 수압까지 체크해야하는 건가.. 그냥 속 시끄러워서 환불을 하기로 했다.
As you can see from the video, there were no leaks from the water line and drain hose.
I kept searching why that was happening and found one possibility was that our water pressure could be too high.
But I didn't really want to deal with this, so I just decided to return it.
홈디포에서 전화해서 여차저차 상황을 설명하니 식기세척기를 픽업하러 오겠단다.
그래서 열심히 설치했던 식기세척기를 도로 다 빼냈다.
We called Home Depot, explained what happend, and they scheduled a pickup for the dishwasher.
We had to disconnect everything again.
그렇게 나는 또다시 새로운 식기세척기 검색에 나섰다.
Thus my search for a new dishwasher continued.....
