지난 달, 스팀 보일러를 새로 교체한 후 특정 radiator에서 아주 큰 뱅잉 소음이 나기 시작했다.
보일러 교체하기 전에 우리집 radiator 중 하나가 뱅잉 소음이 나긴 했었지만, 보일러를 교체하고나니 원래 소음이 나던 것이 아닌 갑자기 멀쩡하던 것에서 소음이 나는 것이다.
One of our steam radiators started making loud banging noises after our new boiler installation last month.
We already had a radiator that made a banging noise before, but this time a different one started banging (surprisingly, the original one with a banging noise has been working fine)
이 소리가 낮에도 신경이 엄청 쓰이는데, 밤에 잘 때는 더 미쳐버린다. 그것도 하루에 한번만 난리를 치는 것이 아니라 거의 두시간에 한번씩 뱅잉 소음에다가 밑으로 파이프가 지나가는 자리가 전체적으로 흔들리기까지 했다.
게다가 air vent에서 물까지 튀어나오고 난리인데, 그게 닦아보면 그냥 물이 아니라 까만 오일이 섞여 나왔다.
The noise was very annoying even during the day and you couldn't even sleep at night. This happened once every two hours and you could also feel the whole floor where the pipe passes shaking.
Even worse, water mixed with black oil was squirting out of the air vent.
이와 같은 현상이 보일러 교체 후, 거의 이틀도 안돼서 일어났다. 남편이 바로 보일러 설치를 해 준 회사에 전화를 해서 설명을 했더니 새로운 보일러 설치에 사용한 오일이 덜 빠진 탓이라며 다음날 보일러 skim을 하러 왔다.
This all happened within 2 days after the new boiler was installed. My husband called the boiler company and explained everything. They said it could be because of the oil they used when installing the boiler, so they came to our house to skim the boiler.
보일러 회사에서 skimming을 하러 왔을 때는, 이 길다란 copper 파이프를 이용해서 오일을 빼내었다.
두 버킷 정도만 채우고 끝을 냈다. 내가 유투브에서 찾아봤을 때는 오랜 시간동안 오일을 빼내는 것 같았는데 좀 의아하긴 했다. 방법만 알면 내가 해보고 싶었는데 우리가 직접 하는 건 권장하지 않는댄다.. ^^;;;
They used that long copper pipe to drain the oil and finished after filling a couple buckets. I was very skeptical because it took a pretty long time to skim from what I saw on Youtube.
I asked them if I could do it too but they didn't recommend we do it by ourlselves.
그렇게 낮에 그들이 떠나고, 바로 보일러를 돌렸을 때는 괜찮았다.
근데 밤이 되니까 또 뱅잉 시작;;;; 진짜 이 소음 때문에 밤에 잠을 잘 수가 없었다.
Right after they left, we turned the boiler on and it worked fine.
However it started banging again that night, and we couldn't sleep at all.
어쩔 수 없이 다음날 다시 회사에 전화했더니, skimming이 아니라 아에 보일러에 있는 물을 다 빼보란다.
The next day, we called the company again. This time, they told us to drain all the water from the boiler.
그래서 보일러 작동을 멈춘 후, 2시간 정도를 기다렸다가 copper 파이프가 아닌 아래쪽에 달려있는 valve를 열어서 물을 완전히 다 빼내었다.
근데 보기에는 아주 깨끗한 물만 나왔다. 그래서 이것이 과연 효과가 있을지 굉장히 의문이었지만 믿어보는 수 밖에 없었다.
그렇게 물을 다 빼내고 난 후에, 천천히 물을 다시 채웠다.
We turned off the boiler, waited for 2 hours so it could cool down, and then started draining water from the valve, not the long copper pipe.
I was expecting darkened oily water to come out, but the water was pretty clean. I was very doubtful that it would work but didn't have any other choice.
We filled the water back very slowly after draining all the old water.
보일러를 작동시켜봤더니 신기하게도 뱅잉 소음이 나지 않았다.
근데, 일주일 정도 지나자 다시 같은 radiator에서 뱅잉 소음이 나기 시작했다.
We tried turning back on the boiler and surprisingly, didn't have any banging noises.
However, the same radiator started banging again after a week.
그래서 같은 방법으로 물을 다 빼내고 채우는 과정을 반복했다.
그랬더니 현재까지는 아무런 소음없이 잘 작동이 되고 있다.
It was very frusturating but we just repeated the same process and it has worked fine so far.
radiator에서 스팀 소리만 나면 남편과 둘다 귀를 쫑긋 세워서는 뱅잉이 시작될까봐 긴장을 한다;;
제발 이대로 얼마 남지 않은 겨울을 잘 보냈음 한다....
Everytime the radiator emits steam, we get nervous worrying we will hear the banging again.
I just hope the rest of the winter can be peacful....
